“It’s like a hug every December.”
That’s how one of CTAOP’s YL Scholars described our annual Leadership Summit, where we convene all Scholars – current and alumni – for a few days of reflection, bonding, nature, leadership development, and growth.

“I think a really big thing that’s always been sensational about these gatherings is the fact that it’s really about connection – genuinely so.”
Hamish Neill, Director of CTAOP Program Partner Drama For Life, was one of the changemakers at our final 2023 #SwidlerSummit regional gathering in Joburg, and his words really ignite our souls. When you and the people you work with to create change really see each other – and we mean SEE each other – magic is possible. And it’s nothing short of magic that is alchemized more and more potently every time we gather these leaders together.

In December 2022, CTAOP brought together all 4 cohorts of the Youth Leaders Scholarship for the first time at the inaugural Leadership Summit to bond over shared experience, learn from each other, and grow. We know these young leaders are going to build the world they and their communities deserve, where they can thrive –– because they’ve already started building it.
