CTAOP Program Partner Spotlight: Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village

Agahozo Shalom Youth Village (ASYV) was built as a response to the genocide that took place in Rwanda in 1994 which left over 2 million children without parents. ASYV is a residential community for secondary school youth that combines family, education, healthcare, and enrichment to foster emotional and intellectual growth. CTAOP invests in programs at ASYV that aim to enable young people, especially girls, to find their own solutions to gender inequality and HIV/AIDS through empowerment, overall adolescent sexual and reproductive health, and adolescent health services. This is the first project of its kind in Rwanda and has the potential to inform national policy around sexual and reproductive health and rights.
