Community driven change

We are proud to support community-based organizations implementing innovative HIV prevention programs that serve adolescents. Grantees address this challenge by providing services related to the social and structural drivers of HIV/AIDS such as sexual and reproductive health education, access to adolescent-friendly health services, psychosocial support, and peer counseling.

CTAOP Youth Leaders Scholarship

In 2018, CTAOP launched the Youth Leaders Scholarship (YLS) program to help cultivate and strengthen young community leaders in South Africa by providing comprehensive scholarships for tertiary education. Built in partnership with the UCLA Center for World Health and StudyTrust, the program provides full scholarships, individually tailored academic counseling, psychosocial support, and supplemental leadership skills-building work that the young leaders participate in over the course of their tertiary education journey. In addition to mentorship and support services, the YL Scholars receive full financial support, including tuition, fees, accommodations, travel costs, and books.

The first cohort of six YL Scholars started their respective university journeys in January of 2019, and each year we add another cohort of Scholars to the YLS community.
