Isibani Law & Therapy Centre

Isibani Law and Therapy Centre is dedicated to empowering victims of gender-based violence by providing pro bono legal assistance and psycho-social support. The organization ensures that survivors’ voices are heard and that they actively participate in the justice process. In addition to offering direct support, Isibani works to prevent future violence through awareness programs aimed at fostering a safer and more informed society.

The name “Isibani” translates to “lighthouse” or “guiding light,” reflecting the organization’s vision of illuminating the path to justice and restoration for survivors. It seeks to dispel the darkness surrounding the criminal justice system by ensuring survivors receive full legal protection. The vision extends beyond legal accountability to include prevention efforts, advocating for a society that upholds human dignity and promotes mental health within communities affected by past trauma.

Isibani has a mission of eliminating gender-based violence through legal advocacy, community education, and mental health support. The organization works to hold state institutions accountable for fulfilling their mandates, ensuring survivors receive justice and protection. By educating the Kwa-Xolo community and beyond about their constitutional rights and responsibilities, Isibani empowers individuals to challenge injustice and foster a culture of peace and respect. Additionally, Isibani is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of public interest lawyers who will champion social justice and legal reform.
